Anne Ollen

Director of Communications and Operations

Ms. Ollen has responsibility for developing and implementing strategy for communicating about the Institute and its work through a range of internal and external print and electronic channels. She has oversight for the editorial guidelines she developed to ensure consistency and clarity of content presented through TIAA-CREF Institute publications. Anne reviews and evaluates proposals from potential Institute partners, and often serves as the Institute’s primary liaison for specific partnership initiatives. She manages the administration of the TIAA-CREF Hesburgh Award for leadership excellence in higher education. She also serves as secretary for the TIAA-CREF Institute Advisory Board and has oversight for the Institute’s budget, and corporate processes related to compliance, management reporting, space planning, and business operations.

Anne was invited to join the Institute when it was established in 1998. She has led the development of professional development courses and webinars for benefits administrators and chief financial officers in higher education and financial education resources for youth. From 1992 – 1998, she was manager of Seminar Development, leading a team responsible for creating content and collateral for financial education forums targeting specific audiences, including benefits administrators, women, people about to retire, and those just starting out in their careers. Earlier in her career, Anne held a variety of marketing and communications positions at TIAA-CREF. She worked at Business Week magazine from 1983 – 1985.

Anne has an M.A. in Education from Queens College, City University of New York, and holds a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designation from The Wharton School.
