Research is the foundation of the Institute.
The TIAA-CREF Institute conducts and sponsors actionable, relevant research on key strategic issues, intended to advance the ways individuals and institutions plan for financial security, and help strengthen strategic thinking and decision-making of college and university leaders.
Research findings are presented in the TIAA-CREF Institute publications, including:
Research Dialogue presents in-depth analyses of research findings and focuses on lifelong financial security and higher education issues. A technical publication, reports includes methodology, data sources and implications of findings.
Two other publications, Trends and Issues and Advancing Higher Education are both written for a non-technical audience.
Trends and Issues provides information to help readers make better financial and strategic decisions for themselves or their institutions.
Advancing Higher Education focuses on issues of strategic importance to the ongoing vitality of America’s universities and colleges.
Books based on the Higher Education Leadership Conference are another source of expert information and are part of the TIAA-CREF Institute’s Series on Higher Education.
In addition, the TIAA-CREF Institute funds research Grants for external scholars, focusing on lifelong financial security and the business of higher education.
Speeches and Briefs not published in one of the TIAA-CREF Institute’s publications are also available online. These include conference, symposium or forum papers, and speeches given at the Institute or at other organizations.
