Roger W. Ferguson, Jr., 60, is President and Chief Executive Officer of TIAA and CREF. He joined TIAA-CREF following his tenure at Swiss Re, where he served as Chairman of the firm’s America Holding Corporation, Head of Financial Services and member of the Executive Committee from 2006 to 2008. Dr. Ferguson is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and a member of the Academy’s Commission on the Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr. Ferguson has served on the Board of Directors of International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. since 2010 and Audax Health since 2011. He has been a member of President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness since 2011, and served on its predecessor, the Economic Recovery Advisory Board. He also serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Advanced Study, the Board of Overseers of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Math for America, Partnership for New York City, and is co-chair of the Board of Trustees of the Committee for Economic Development. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Brevan Howard Asset Management LLP and serves as co-chair of the National Academy of Sciences’ Committee on the Long-Run Macro-Economic Effects of the Aging U.S. Population. He is vice chairman of the Economic Club of New York and a member of the Business-Higher Education Forum, the International Council of Advisors of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, Council on Foreign Relations, the Harvard University Visiting Committee for the Memorial Church, and the Group of Thirty. Dr. Ferguson holds a B.A., an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Economics, and a J.D., all from Harvard University. Dr. Ferguson provides in-depth knowledge of TIAA operations, sound business judgment, extensive knowledge of the finance industry and familiarity with governmental oversight of the financial services industry.
